Do you think Sherlock was actually trying to kill himself by taking that many drugs or that was just for him to really dive into his mind palace and find out how Moriarty could be alive?

See, I don’t know. It’s hard to say. I’d like to think that Sherlock wasn’t trying to kill himself because he’d want to stay alive even on the remotest chance he’d see John again. However, if he’s been locked up ‘with his worst enemy’, he may not be thinking all that clearly.

Sherlock just came back to life for John, I don’t think there’s any way he would actually try to kill himself so soon after that. I mean I know he hadn’t actually found out moriarty was back before he took the drugs, but he did know that Mary is still dangerous
